Welcome to the completely redesigned Greater Good magazine!
Take a look around. The new site looks a lot better than the old one, I hope you’ll agree. But the new look isn’t the most important part. The biggest changes affect your experience.
For starters, take a moment to register on the site—it takes just a few seconds, and it’s free. On your desktop computer or tablet, you’ll see a way to do that in the upper right-hand corner. If you’re looking at our site on your phone, you’ll see it at the bottom of our main menu—just click on the “hamburger” at upper left.
After you’re registered, you’ll be able to visit your own Greater Good page (by clicking “My Account”), where you can manage your account and keep track of bookmarked articles, videos, podcasts, and quizzes. That page will be your home at Greater Good magazine.
How do you bookmark things? That’s easy: Look for the little flag that turns blue at the top of each page. Your quiz results will be automatically recorded and will appear on your page.
From that page, you can also access exclusive content reserved for members of the Greater Good Science Center. Learn more about the benefits of membership once you login. (And if you’re already a member of the GGSC, click the Login link and use your member credentials to login—no need to register again.)
A lot more has changed. Our new site is mobile-optimized, which means that it’s going to look a lot better on your phone or tablet than the old one did. The navigation should feel cleaner and more intuitive than before, so that you can find the content you need for a happier and more meaningful life.
We also separated the magazine from pages that featured the wider work of the Greater Good Science Center, so that articles and videos are front and center on a brand new site. If you’re curious about the GGSC’s events, education program, fellowships, or other activities, we hope you’ll zip over to that new site and check them out.
There, you’ll learn about our library of research-tested practices for a happier and more compassionate life, Greater Good in Action, our online Science of Happiness course, and our Summer Institute for Educators, not to mention our efforts to pioneering research. You’ll also learn about new programs targeted at parents, health professionals, and workplace leaders.
But first, please take a few minutes to click around this shiny new version of Greater Good magazine and discover what it has to offer. If you have any feedback or spot any problems with our new sites, please email “greater at berkeley dot edu” to let us know.
Thanks so much for all you do to support the Greater Good.
With gratitude,
Jeremy Adam Smith
Editor
P.S. Thanks so much to Project6 Design for making our pages look so beautiful, and to our longtime web developers, Hop Studios, for bringing them to life. This entire project received critical and generous support from the Einhorn Family Charitable Trust.
