Jocelyn Lai
Jocelyn Lai is a doctoral student in the affective science and health psychology Ph.D. program at UC Irvine under the mentorship of Dr. Jessica Borelli. Prior to pursuing graduate school, she received her B.A. in Social Welfare and Psychology at UC Berkeley and worked in education and nonprofit for a few years.
Her current research interests involve examining factors (such as emotion beliefs and values) that may support emotional clarity and flexible emotion regulation, and how these aspects relate to health and interpersonal outcomes. Furthermore, she is interested in the role of emotion-based mindfulness interventions in supporting more thoughtful interactions with others and critical self-reflection of one’s own mental biases.
