Michael Burmester

Michael Burmester, Ph.D., is a psychologist and scientist for human-computer interaction. After working as a researcher and user experience professional at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), Siemens Corporate Technology, and User Interface Design GmbH, he started as a professor for ergonomics and usability at the Stuttgart Media University (Hochschule der Medien, HdM) in 2002. He is the representative of the Information Experience and Design Research Group (IXD) and vice dean of research of the faculty of information and communication. His research interest is to understand how technology design can contribute to positive experiences, subjective well-being, and the flourishing of people. A special focus is on technology for work contexts, so that work could be experienced as a positive and meaningful part of life.
