Wendy Li

Wendy Li, Ph.D., is an associate professor of psychology at James Cook University, Australia. She is the founding chair of the AusAsian Mental Health Research Alliance (AMHRA) and the head of the Mindfulness Lab @ JCU. Professor Li serves as a coeditor-in-chief for the Asian Journal of Social Psychology, and an associate editor for Applied Psychology: Health and Wellbeing and Journal of Pacific Rim Psychology. She is the editor-in-chief of the Palgrave Handbook of Third-Wave Psychotherapies, which will be published in 2025.
Professor Li is a leader in translational and applied health research in regional, rural, and remote areas with a strong focus on vulnerable populations. Her work addresses critical health challenges facing individuals in regional, rural, and remote communities, including mental health, social isolation, and the psychological impacts of adversity. Professor Li’s research is community-driven and policy-relevant, often conducted in partnership with health and social service providers. Through her expertise in culturally responsive methodologies and applied mental health interventions, she is advancing evidence-based solutions to reduce the burden of mental ill health and improve well-being across Australia and beyond.
