Luke Brown

Luke Brown is the Bridging Differences Facilitator of the Bridging Differences program at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. He creates conditions for people to more deeply encounter one another and embrace interdependency, restorative relation, and shared futures. His bridge-building work includes evidence-based practices for attending to ongoing inequities across race and ethnicity, social class, religion, and other forms of difference.

As an educator, researcher, facilitator, and consultant, Luke has spent a decade designing and leading more inclusive, impactful learning environments in higher education. His work has included institutional change initiatives at the University of the Free State in South Africa as a Fulbright Fellow and transformative learning as a faculty member of Howard University. He also forwards retreats as a potent way for individuals to attune to their inner dialogue and rewild connections with the vibrant ecologies that sustain them.

Most recently, Luke has been completing a PhD in higher education at Boston College focused on co-facilitation practice. His work considers institutional contexts and pedagogical strategies that help and hinder meaningful dialogue, including how differences in credibility, authority, and influence shape exchanges. He also has an MA in English Literature from Georgetown University. Living into how to be better at being with people remains his passion.
