We’re revamping the Gratitude Journal!

February 4, 2013 | Gratitude Journal | 0 comments

What are you grateful for?

We’re revamping the Community Gratitude Journal! For starters, we’ll be collecting our gratitudes through Thnx4.org. Thnx4 is the Greater Good Science Center’s new sharable online Gratitude Journal. Here you can create your own personal gratitude journal and take the 14-Day Gratitude Challenge.

In the months to come, we’ll be highlighting trends that we see through the Thnx4 gratitude journals and combining our observations with specific posts from the site. Stay tuned!

Gratitude Journal: Thankful for Family

January 25, 2013 | Gratitude Journal | 0 comments

What are you grateful for?

Got Gratitude? Share it here!

Welcome to our community gratitude journal, open to all who’d like to express their thanks or share a happy thought.

We’re always on the lookout for happy photos of you and your loved ones—or simply photos of something that makes you grateful. Send them to Janine at janinek@berkeley.edu.

I’m grateful that I can get my kids to eat veggies just by putting a platter of them, raw, in the middle of the table and handing everybody a taco shell with a little cheese inside.
Cindy

Short list: that I got lucky and finally found someone who would put up with me to marry, that I got lucky and had two awesome kids, that I got lucky and had lots of fun jobs before semi-retiring to do this.
Heather

I’m happy that my dad is proud of me.
bryan

I am thankful to have finished the appellate argument I prepared for the last two weeks! And it was fun!
Liz

“I’m grateful that I was forced to do several things I was terrified of in the past few months. Everything turned out fine, and some of those scary things actually ended up being fun; all of the “facing my fear” moments were enlightening experiences in one way or another.
Jessica

I am grateful I found this website and can begin my journey toward a meaningful life.
Rosie deCosmo

I’m thankful that we found a babysitter for tomorrow night.
Oakland Mom

I’m grateful for my support system—my husband, my kids, my immediate family, my extended family, and my friends.
Janine Kovac

Every week we post a photo submitted by one of our readers along with all the happy and thankful comments gathered throughout the week.

To contribute, email your gratitude (a sentence or two would be great) or your favorite photo to Janine at janinek@berkeley.edu

You can also contribute gratitudes by commenting at the bottom of this post. Please include: your name if you’d like us to use it and any other info you’d like us to list, e.g., if the “gratitude” is from one of your children, it would be great to know his or her age.

I’m grateful for all the beautiful places we saw on our road trip back from Texas.
Mom of 3

I’m thankful for all the things I get to read while rocking my baby to sleep.
Jill

I am grateful that I have a body healthy enough to bear and nourish three children, with something left over to go on long hikes with my girlfriends.
Cindy

I am thankful for the times when you seem to be working on a problem that has no solution, no end. No one seems to be listening. Suddenly there is a breakthrough. This happened today.
Holley

I’m thankful for my internal desire to assign myself projects that motivate and stimulate me, grateful for a time in my life when I have the resources, time and energy to give back and pay it forward, and appreciative of menial tasks because they keep me grounded.
Sofia

I’m grateful for safe travels this past holiday season.
Matt

I’m grateful for my Facebook friends for keeping me connected to the larger world through their activism, their interests, and their passions. Each day they open my eyes to issues around the world, far beyond my own small circle, that warrant my attention and action. And beyond the big issues, each day I am grateful to them for sharing with me their own gratitude for the pleasure and beauty in the small moments that make life worth living - a lovely flower, a sunrise, a smile.
Joanie

I’m grateful for this truly amazing robot vacuum cleaner that my family got me for Christmas. A clean home is a happy home!
