True enough, even the smallest kids want to be independent and to make their own decisions. No one wants to be told what to do. I find that asking my daughter whether she wants to do whatever it is that I want her to do (put on socks, start getting for bed etc) or how she is going to do it, has a far highter success ratio than simply telling her. She’s only 2.5, yet already she wants her own autonomy.
