Stefanie DeLuca: The Power of Identity Projects

Stefanie DeLuca, associate professor of sociology at Johns Hopkins University and author of Coming of Age in the Other America, will be sharing her work following 150 Baltimore youth living in public housing.
After ten years of research, Professor DeLuca uncovered the surprising finding that youth with “identity projects” (personal passions like art, music, and sports that offered meaning) were more likely to finish high school, more likely to continue on to post-secondary education, and less likely to be involved in illegal activities.
