Jon Kabat-Zinn on “The Role of Mindfulness in Education”: A Benefit for Mindful Schools

The first public talk Dr. Kabat-Zinn has devoted exclusively to the topic of mindfulness in education.

Please join Mindful Schools when it hosts a special talk by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn on “The Role of Mindfulness in Education.”

This is the first time Dr. Kabat-Zinn has dedicated an entire talk to this topic. Proceeds from this event will pay for scholarships for schools and for teachers who wish to take the Mindful Schools training programs.

Ticket prices for this benefit for Mindful Schools are $25, $65, and $250. Student tickets are $15. (Student ID will be checked at the door.) $250 tickets include event admission, a wine and cheese reception with Jon Kabat-Zinn prior to the event, parking, and a signed book.

About Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn
Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., is a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. He gives public talks and workshops throughout the world on mindfulness and its applications for moving toward greater sanity and balance in today’s multitasking, high-speed world. He is professor of medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he was founding executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, and founder and former director of its world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic. He is the author of numerous books, including Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and Illness, Coming to Our Senses, and Wherever You Go There You Are.

About Mindful Schools
The mission of Mindful Schools is to be a leader in the integration of mindfulness into the classroom. Mindful Schools is celebrating its fifth year bringing a 15-session mindfulness program to elementary schools throughout the Bay Area. To date, Mindful Schools has taught over 14,000 children in 53 schools. In addition, Mindful Schools offers two levels of training to adults: one on cultivating a personal mindfulness practice, and a second level on teaching mindfulness to children. It has trained over 2,500 adults and recently launched an online “Mindfulness Fundamentals” course which has garnered interest from around the world.
